A senior Trump administration official tells me Anthropic's "recklessness" in responding to issues with the company’s latest artificial intelligence release led to export controls. A source close to Anthropic disputes this saying the company is eager to get this resolved and are working with the government. A source close to Anthropic says senior technical Anthropic staff are currently in Washington, D.C. to meet with White House officials. President Trump says the US has been taking "millions of barrels" of oil out of the Strait of Hormuz every night. He says that is another reason why WTI oil prices have not stayed above $100 a barrel.

$425 million to fund 13 coal plants

Commerce Department numbers show factory order month over month are up 4.8% beating expectations. The ISM Manufacturing gauge at 54.5%. The 5th consecutive month of expansion and the highest mark since May 2022. The trend shows that manufacturing is growing in the US. #Manufacturing #Jobs

U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer will meet with his Canadian counterpart Tuesday. This will be the first bilateral meeting with Canada about the renegotiation of USMCA.

Gabriel Brunet, Minister Dominic LeBlanc’s spokesperson:l Gabriel Brunet tells me, “Minister LeBlanc will travel to Washington, D.C. tomorrow, June 2, with Canada’s Chief Trade Negotiator to the United States, Janice Charette. While in D.C., they will meet with the United States Trade Representative, Ambassador Jamieson Greer. Minister LeBlanc and Mme Charette will return to Ottawa that same day.”

Greer met his Mexican counterparts at the end of last week for the first bilateral meeting with Mexico about the renegotiations.
