Pretty much pointless trying to change things in New Zealand I guess.
It's kind of sad, but it also means I can just look forward, not backward.
I wish everyone all the best.
Te Reo Māori: From Survival to State-Sponsored Playground. Back in 1769, Māori had a working vocabulary of around 8,000 words. By 1900, Māori had grown to about 10,000–11,000 words, borrowing clever bits from English like miraka (milk) and hōiho (horse). Fast-forward to today, and Te Aka lists over 24,000 headwords, many invented by linguists to cover everything from computers (rorohiko) to democracy (manapori).
Of course, this explosion didn’t happen naturally it’s now a full-blown taxpayer-funded operation. Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori rakes in $36 million a year, while Te Mātāwai pockets $40 million both busy churning out “official” words, often duplicating each other’s efforts. Meanwhile, ordinary New Zealanders might never have heard half of them. What was once a practical, spoken language has become a made-up lounge, polished and codified by bureaucrats with pens, budgets, and official stamps far removed from the communities that actually speak it.
Yet the spin rolls on: Māori is being “revitalised,” and success is measured not by use in homes or schools, but by how many words sit in a dictionary or how many millions flow through government agencies.
From a post on facebook. Happy Maori Language week!

Hey everyone this account isn't me @Glinner_1 please block and report. It's probably one of Fat Tony's crew trying to trick someone into giving information.
@tombo9090 If you don't like people pointing out that many trans activists use precisely the tactics advocated by the world's most famous fascist, try persuading them to a) debate, b) accept women, too, have rights and c) not to try and force compliance by threats of death and violence.
What an idiotic claim.
We don't hate these stupid priests, we pity them.
The terrorists they simp for would murder them in an instant. https://t.co/sA94QceB4Q
I'm so worried about the financial impact on @jk_rowling (😂😂) due to her unwavering support for women, I've just bought 6 of these books & given them to random women at Auckland Airport.
My hope is she can now afford to heat her home during winter🙏🙏
