For people like me, the Maine Senate race is another Fezzik’s choice: We obviously can’t vote for the candidate who is deeply morally flawed, but we also obviously cannot support the candidate who has enabled the president in his lawlessness all too often.

The real problem isn’t Paxton or even Trump. The real problem is a right-wing propaganda machine that has persuaded Republicans that the worst Republican is better than the best Democrat (except for Trump-critical Republicans who are closet Democrats).
@NewsRacket With the recent primary results it is more clear than ever - MAGA/GOP primary voters simply want a king and will put in place lackeys to do the kings work for as long as they need to elected middlemen.
When someone’s rich, people figure they must be smart, because they made a lot of money somehow. It’s a myth and a fallacy, because many people get rich because of blind, stupid luck, graft, or inheritance—or all three.

The Paxton win:
1. shows the GOP is a Trump Party, not a conservative party
2. Means that Cornyn will feel free to block Trump until January
3. Boosts Democratic chances of winning the Senate
It wasn’t that Cornyn was ineffective in the Senate; he could whip like few senators in modern history. It’s that he dared to touch the third rail of Texas politics—guns.
