The proposal from UFCW does not help us advance any of our three goals and would ultimately hurt associates, customers and union grocers in Southern California.
Appreciate @margotroosevelt & @LATimes covering Ralphs’ ongoing negotiations with @UFCW locals in Southern California. See our quote on the wage proposal from @UFCW below:

The UFCW proposal seeks a more than 20% increase in wages. Not only would this raise grocery prices but it could lead to reduced market share and unionized employment at Ralphs.
Ralphs stores remain open, full stocked and staffed to serve the needs of our community. The full statement on strike authorization can be found here:

Ralphs has services and funds to support any associates who are having financial trouble.
Emergencies happen, and Ralphs wants to be there to help our associates when they need us most. @monaeatsLA@sapna@NBCLA
Ralphs associates’ individual health care premium for industry-leading coverage is less than $35 per month.
For family coverage, Ralphs associates pay less than $70 per month. @bobbimurray2 @LaurenPozenSN1
We have three very clear objectives; to put more money in our associates paychecks, keep groceries affordable for our customers & to maintain a sustainable future for our business. By working together, we win together.
A strike authorization vote doesn’t mean a strike will happen, but it does create unnecessary concern for our associates and communities, at a time when we should be coming together in good faith bargaining to find solutions and compromise.
