“The National Congress Party was dissolved on paper in 2019; the Islamic Movement was not. Its networks remained embedded in state institutions. A ceasefire that restores the pre-war structure only guarantees the next war.”
I shared my thoughts on the roots of Sudan’s war and the challenges of achieving lasting peace in this report published by African Arguments:

The Middle East is at a crossroads. From Gaza and Lebanon to Yemen, wars, displacement, and geopolitical rivalries are reshaping the Arab world. Yet its perspective remains underrepresented at the highest levels of global diplomacy.
The smoke over Amiet may fade. The grief beneath it will not. A market where people came to earn a living became a place of death, leaving families to search for loved ones among the ashes.
Total media blackout while the streets of Sudan erupt in massive protests demanding the immediate downfall of General Burhan and his failing military rule. The people's anger can no longer be silenced by state propaganda.
This is happening in Khartoum, under the SAF-led, Muslim Brotherhood-controlled authorities.
In Omdurman, passengers are so desperate to find transportation that they're climbing onto vehicle roofs just to get around. Footage from the Souq Libya–Al-Shuhada route shows dozens of people packed onto a single vehicle. Tragic.
Fuel shortages and the worsening transportation crisis are making everyday life difficult for people in the capital. Ultimately, none of these problems can be sustainably addressed without fire truce.

What has Abdel Fattah al-Burhan's military leadership brought Sudan?
A shattered economy. Destroyed infrastructure. Millions forced from their homes. Children deprived of education, security, and a future.
🇸🇩 Sudan was once a nation of hope, ambition, and opportunity. Today, millions have been displaced, cities lie in ruins, and an entire generation is growing up surrounded by war.
Sudan’s future cannot remain trapped beneath a general’s boots.
A uniform is no mandate. Fear is no foundation for a nation. And a country cannot build tomorrow while its people are struggling to survive today.
Behind every declaration of military glory stands a family waiting for someone who will never return, a child whose classroom has fallen silent, a home that exists only in memory.
Al-Burhan cannot offer Sudan a future built around his own survival in power. Sudan belongs to its people. They deserve the right to choose their leaders, question their government and live without fearing the next explosion.
No speech can rebuild a shattered childhood. No medal can answer a grieving mother.
Al-Burhan must resign. Sudan needs a civilian government—and a future its children can live to see
Sudan’s gold should build schools, hospitals and a future. Every ounce diverted into al-Burhans pockets steals something far more precious: the chance for a generation to live in peace.
More than 14 million people have been displaced by the war. Families have lost their homes, livelihoods and security, while hunger threatens millions. Every day spent searching for food should be a devastating indictment of those responsible.
Holding power is no achievement when leadership fails to deliver. Sudan needs peace, functioning institutions and an economy that gives families hope. Al-Burhan must step aside.

Sudan’s young people deserve the chance to build their future at home. That requires opportunity, accountable leadership and political change. Al-Burhan must resign and allow civilian leadership to take responsibility.
#اختانا#لبرهان
No leader should expect unlimited chances while citizens bear the consequences of failure. Al-Burhan must accept political responsibility, resign and support a peaceful transfer to civilian government.

A resignation alone will not rebuild Sudan, but ending failed leadership is a necessary step. Al-Burhan must leave office so a credible civilian transition can begin the work of recovery.
#اختانا#لبرهان
Sudan deserves a government that answers to its people. Al-Burhan’s political and economic failures demand accountability. He must resign and make way for a credible civilian transition.
#اختانا#لبرهان
Sudan needs a credible civilian transition and an economy that serves its people. Al-Burhan has failed to deliver the leadership that requires. It is time for him to resign and let Sudan choose a different future.
