कश्मीर में चुनाव के बीच पाकिस्तान द्वारा कांग्रेस-नेशनल कॉन्फ्रेंस का समर्थन करने से सियासत गरमा गई है. पाकिस्तान के रक्षा मंत्री ख्वाजा आसिफ ने कहा कि 370 की बहाली पर पाकिस्तान कांग्रेस-नेशनल कॉन्फ्रेंस के साथ है. जियो टीवी को दिए एक इंटरव्यू में ख्वाजा आसिफ ने कहा कि हम अनुच्छेद 370 पर कांग्रेस गठबंधन के रुख से सहमत हैं. पाकिस्तानी के वरिष्ठ पत्रकार हामिद मीर ने अपने कार्यक्रम 'कैपिटल टॉक' में ख्वाजा आसिफ से सवाल पूछा कि शेख अब्दुल्ला और नेहरू ने 370 और 35A तय किया था. अब ये दोनों पार्टियां नेशनल कॉन्फ्रेंस और कांग्रेस इलेक्शन में कह रही हैं कि अगर हम जीत गए तो 35 ए और 370 की सस्पेंशन को खत्म कर देंगे. आपको लगता है ये संभव है?

इस पर पाकिस्तानी रक्षा मंत्री ख्वाजा आसिफ ने कहा, ''मेरा खयाल है कि ये संभव है. कांग्रेस और नेशनल कॉन्फ्रेंस दोनों की ही महत्वपूर्ण मौजूदगी है. इस इशू पर मुझे लगता है कि वादी यानी कश्मीर घाटी की जनता बहुत मोटिवेट हुई है, वादी के बाहर भी. बहुत चांस है कि वह सत्ता में आएं. स्टेटस रिस्टोर होना चाहिए, इसे इलेक्शन का मुद्दा बनाया हुआ है. अगर  स्टेटस रिस्टोर हुआ तो, मैं समझता हूं कि कश्मीरी लोगों को जो जख्म मिला है उसमें कुछ मरहम लगेगा''

इसके बाद हामिद मीर ने कांग्रेस प्रवक्ता पवन खेड़ा के बयान को दिखाते हुए ख्वाजा आसिफ से पूछा, 'कांग्रेस कह रही है कि ये हक हम दिलवाएंगे..क्या हम यह कह सकते हैं कि आज पाकिस्तान की रियासत और भारत की कांग्रेस और नेशनल कांफ्रेंस एक पेज पर हैं?' इस सवाल का जवाब देते हुए  ख्वाजा आसिफ ने कहा, 'इस इश्यू पर (अनुच्छेद 370) पर, बिल्कुल. हमारी भी यही डिमांड रही है, जब से मोदी साहब ने ये वार किया हुआ है.. कि कश्मीर का स्टेटस रीस्टोर किया जाए. '
