Last night, Pack 270 joined us at the firehouse for their annual Egg Drop Challenge! Over 50 pack members and their parents came out to test their engineering skills by crafting devices designed to protect their eggs from impact.
We completed two rounds of drops — the first from 35 feet and the second for any surviving eggs from an impressive 70 feet! Every year, the pack members come up with more creative and innovative designs, making it harder and harder to crack the eggs.

Just prior to 3pm today, all 5 Newtown fire companies were dispatched to a structure fire in Botsford’s district. First arriving firefighters confirmed a working fire in the garage of a residence.
Our members work diligently to clear scenes as quickly and safely as possible. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued support of the town’s volunteer emergency services.
Just after 11:30am today, Newtown Hook & Ladder Volunteer Fire Department responded to a reported single-vehicle accident. One vehicle had left the roadway. There were no reported injuries at the scene. Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps also responded to evaluate the patient.

🚒 Monday Night Drill 🚒 Monday night’s drill was our annual SCBA Confidence Course, focusing on critical firefighter skills and safety. Members worked through pack conversions, reviewed MAYDAY procedures, and refreshed self-extrication skills, along
First officer on scene was the captain from Hook & Ladder confirming a working fire. Low temperatures, live power lines coming down, ice and a mechanical failure with a supply engine all made for a challenge. All residents were unharmed. No firefighters were injured
Just prior to 6am on the 28th, Dodgingtown was dispatched to an automatic fire alarm. A call back from the alarm company and a passersby both reported the house was on fire. The call was immediately updated to a structure fire. Truck 114 and engine 1 responded from Hook & Ladder.
The scene was upgraded to an extrication. Firefighters worked with Newtown Ambulance and Danbury Paramedic to extricate the patient and all patients were transported to Danbury Hospital.
On 11/14/25 at 1834 hours NHL, Hawleyville Fire and Newtown Ambulance responded to the area of Main St and Academy Lane for a 2 car MVA with injuries. Upon Car 1’s arrival it was determined that one patient was trapped inside a vehicle.

Last night, Hook & Ladder responded to a vehicle fire dangerously close to fuel pumps. The first arriving police officer confirmed the vehicle was in close proximity to the gas station, heightening the risk.
