I’m going to be more vulnerable than I normally am.
The last few weeks have been some of the most eye-opening of my life.
I’ve been staying up late almost every night, but what’s interesting is… almost none of it has been about trading.
I’ve been building things behind the scenes while also dealing with some health issues that forced me to stop and take an honest look at myself.
And if I’m being truthful, I didn’t like everything I saw.
I’ve spent years talking about discipline because I genuinely believe it’s the foundation of success.
But somewhere along the way, I let my own discipline start to slip.
Not just in trading.
In my health.
In my routines.
In managing stress.
In allowing people and situations into my life that I should have walked away from much sooner.
None of those things happened overnight.
They happened through small compromises that eventually became big consequences.
That’s the scary part about discipline.
You rarely notice you’ve lost it until life forces you to pay attention.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned through all of this has nothing to do with business or trading.
It’s communication.
I’m the type of person who tries to carry everything on my own. I bottle things up because I don’t want to burden anyone else. I convince myself that if I just keep pushing, eventually it’ll all work itself out.
It doesn’t.
All that stress has to go somewhere.
For me, it started showing up physically.
Looking back, one of the best things I could have done was simply sit down with my wife and tell her what I was carrying.
Not because she could solve every problem.
But because she’s my partner.
She’s been there through the highs and the lows, and she deserves to know when I’m struggling just as much as when I’m succeeding.
I’ve learned that strength isn’t pretending everything is okay.
Sometimes strength is trusting the people who love you enough to let them help carry the weight.
My health scare also made me realize how much energy I was wasting trying to control things that were never mine to control.
The market.
Other people’s opinions.
Business outcomes.
Whether someone keeps their word.
Social media.
None of that is truly ours to control.
What is?
How we take care of our body.
What we feed our mind.
Who we allow into our circle.
How we respond when life punches us in the mouth.
Whether we choose to get back up tomorrow.
I’ve also realized how expensive stress really is.
Not financially.
Physically.
Mentally.
Spiritually.
Some people and situations cost you far more than money ever could.
They steal your peace.
They drain your energy.
They slowly chip away at the person you’re trying to become.
I’ve decided I don’t have room for that anymore.
This isn’t a post asking for sympathy.
It’s accountability.
Because the same discipline I’ve taught others is the same discipline I need to recommit myself to.
We’re all human.
We all drift.
We all make mistakes.
The important part isn’t pretending you’ve never fallen short.
It’s having the humility to admit it, the courage to talk about it, and the discipline to change it.
So that’s exactly what I’m doing.
I’m getting back to controlling what I can control.
Protecting my health.
Protecting my peace.
Protecting my family.
And quietly building the future I want instead of talking about it.
If this post helps even one person have an honest conversation with someone they love before the stress becomes something bigger, then sharing it was worth it.
I've now hit 50 winning days on my @Topstep live account.
When I think about long-term success, this is exactly what I like to see.
Very thankful to be keeping this account in good health.
Who cares how much money you made this week. Who cares what % your options are up. Who cares what car you drive
Did you help another human this week?
That's what's really important
Just locked in my 5th payout on a $50K Pro with @TradingLucid.
This one came during the Asia session after price respected a key level from my Fair Value Model and rejected the NY RTH 30-second Opening Range.
Following your process and shutting it down will always beat trying for home-runs.
