@timburchett@MarshaBlackburn@GlennJacobsTN This is something that needs to be passed around, since the main stream media won't. God bless the Eight Goldstar families that put this together. https://t.co/vYjNVFRutk
@nealasher Just started Dark Agent, which became available today on Audible. Mr. Crane is still my all time favorite though. Hope your having a great year Neal. My prayer is the UK gets some sense, and changes course like the USA. But we're having issues with the kids. Something for nothing
@nealasher Trying to keep up with you Neal listening to World Walker and Dark Diamond is next. Merry Christmas Neal to you and your family. Let's hope the world gets a little more sane this coming year.
Gary Stevenson just hates “the rich” from a deep and visceral place of personal resentment.
He got rich, not by building anything or creating wealth but by speculating on trades where the other side loses.
I worked in the city’s largest derivatives brokerage in the 1990s.
It was wild. It was fascinating.
The chairman of the company was about as posh as you could ever imagine, as were several of the directors.
But the CEO was an Essex boy, state educated, sharper than all of them.
The reason he made it to the top, from the bottom, wasn’t just because he was quick witted, sharp, intelligent and hard working, but because he was also a natural leader.
He never lost his roots or changed the way he spoke, but he had style and class and he earned the respect of the “spoons” who owned and controlled the company he ran for them.
This is what Gary doesn’t understand.
Money alone doesn’t get you into the upper echelons that he wanted to be in. If it did, anyone who got lucky making money could be up there.
But they’re not.
Because the kind of strength of character you need to lead people, the kind of behaviour that earns respect, can’t be bought.
So, having learned the hard way that he has neither the character, nor the other qualities that money can’t buy (but that can come from any walk of life) to make it into the top echelons of influence and power, Gary has decided to attack them instead.
He can’t join them, so he wants to beat them.
But it’s made him bitter and resentful.
And you will only see that grow as, despite his book sales and media profile and social media following, he’ll never be accepted.
I’m not saying that’s a good or bad thing. But he wanted it and he can’t have it. So he’s going to throw his toys out instead, and stoke division and hatred; even when to do so will end up hurting the people he purports to want to help.
Wealth taxes are probably coming. He was a useful pawn in making that happen. He may get a moment’s gratification from that at some point, but it will be fleeting and then he’ll return to simmering in a pool of his own loathing.
I wouldn’t normally care, or spend this much time posting about it.
But he’s actually going to cause more harm to those who can least afford it, just to pursue his petty vendetta against the rich because they wouldn’t treat him with the recognition he so badly craves.
It’s sad, because he’s right about the damage caused by wealth inequality. And changes do need to be made to incentivise against wealth hoarding.
But he’s dangerously wrong about how to do it. He’s out of his depth and worse, doesn’t know it.
I started out believing he wanted to help people.
I have come to learn that he’s only interested in punishing the rich.
A bit like Heath Ledger’s joker in Batman, but without the style.
@GlennJacobsTN Mr Mayor, of all the books to miss on @audible_com was yours. Somehow, that slipped past me which isn't hard to do at 70. Always enjoy you on @Gutfeldfox, if you don't run for governor, which I hope you do, you and @PlanetTyrus could tag team guests.
@nealasher Correct, this was some of your early writings. I did take a break, and enjoyed the River World Series by Philip Jose Farmer. Now I am reading Dark Intelligence. At the seventy year mark, with the exception of Asimov and Clark, I have read and enjoyed more of your novels. Thanks!
@nealasher I just finished the Engineer Reconditioned. I would highly recommend this for anyone just starting out on your many series, and I have just about finished off the Polity, and Agent Cormac. On to the Owner series. You made reference to another race who beat the Jane?
@RepTimBurchett If Tim you get primaried, because of your views on military spending. I will do whatever I can to help you. 22-year Navy Vet I should know a little about government. To me, the GSA is pure evil. People have been told over the years, about $1k toilet seats!
@timburchett So is DOGE going to look at the postal service? A good place to start would be their programmers. I have a package that has been on the road for a week! Closest it has gotten is Cincinnati twice! You got Amazon two day delivery, this is serious BS.
@timburchett Really I can see why Fountain City is overrun by ducks. There is Allergies, hayfever, and Zombies. Halls is no better, except they don't have a duck pond like Fountain City. Please go other places for safety sake. I heard Louisiana is nice this time of year.
