This is a bit long, but Mr. Chuks didn’t whine you.
Before telling you you could crossover into Nursing, he must’ve told you a certain GPA to meet, maybe 4.5. THAT was a minimum requirement SUBJECT to available spaces in the Nursing programme - stay with me.

Nursing is a capped programme, meaning the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Nigeria tells the university how many nursing students to admit. If we admit 150 students into nursing in 2025, for instance, management can’t present 160 students to NMCN in 2030 during their induction.

Now, the only way there would be available spaces in the Nursing programme would be if some students “fell by the wayside.” If 150 students were admitted into nursing when you were in 100L and only 5 students didn’t get into 200L, it’d mean that only 5 spaces were available for people who wanted to transfer (excluding Direct entry/inter-university transfer & “I have a degree in BCH & want to come for Nursing” candidates). If you rightly got 4.5 GPA & 15 other students from Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology etc also wanted to transfer, your GPAs would be collated in descending order - the candidate with 4.95 GPA would be considered over the one with 4.71, the one with 4.56 would be considered over the one with 4.50 even though the latter met the MINIMUM GPA requirement. If 20 slots were available & only 9 students wanted to transfer, all 9 would be able to transfer, provided they made the minimum required GPA before consideration of external applicants.
