· We challenged the proposed amendment to Sec52 of the Income Tax to redesign the income tax returns filing dates to April 30th from June 30th. Our premise is two-fold:

1. Compressing the window for compliance amidst the nascent stages of Incomes & Expenses validation that many taxpayers are still just trying to get a hang of will be leave many exposed to avoidable non-compliance

2. The potential concurrence between April 20th (Instalment taxes), April 30th (balance of tax) & then April 30th (filing sunset date) will place taxpayers under unnecessary pressure for compliance

· We proposed a new clause amending Head B of the Third Schedule of the Income Tax Act to provide for new PAYE bands as below:

1. On the first Kes 360,000 - 10.0%
2. On the next Kes 100,000 - 17.5%
3. On the next Kes 5,612,000 - 25.0%
4. On the next Kes 3,600,000 - 27.5%
5. Above Kes 9,600,000 – 30.0%

· Alongside our proposed PAYE bands, we also proposed a new clause amending Paragraph 1 of Head A on the Third Schedule of the Income Tax Act to revise personal relief to Kes 3,000 from Kes 2,400

@DavidNdii What you're describing is a deemed dividend which is covered under Section 7 of the Income Tax Act. The current amendment builds on the existing law on retained earnings. Before the commissioner could deem any amount as distributed. Now the minimum is 60% of retained earnings

🇭🇹 Members of the Kenya-led Multinational Security Support mission in Haiti raped four Haitian females in four separate incidents — three of them children aged 12, 16, 16, and 18, with all cases corroborated by UN investigators, according to a UN report cited by Miami Herald.

🔸The Kenya-led force, authorized in 2023 by the Security Council to combat gang violence, is now withdrawing from Haiti. A new anti-gang force began its deployment Wednesday as a replacement.

🔸Three of the four cases remain listed as “pending” for action. In the case of the 12-year-old, the only step taken was an internal investigation by the mission itself. No external charges have been filed.

🔸The revelations echo a devastating pattern from Haiti’s previous UN peacekeeping mission, MINUSTAH, which concluded in 2017 after a 13-year deployment.

◽️An AP investigation found at least 134 Sri Lankan peacekeepers had operated a child sex ring in Haiti between 2004 and 2007, victimizing at least nine children — the youngest just 12. Despite 114 peacekeepers being sent home, none were ever prosecuted.

◽️ The same mission was also responsible for introducing cholera to Haiti in 2010, killing more than 9,000 people.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
