A Reddit post explains the Southwest Airlines meltdown (it cancelled >2.5k flights today).

TLDR: Crew scheduling system is 20 years outdated. In event of disruption, can only be changed via phone and manually updated (no app/internet options). And generally understaffed.

USDOT is concerned by Southwest’s unacceptable rate of cancellations and delays & reports of lack of prompt customer service. The Department will examine whether cancellations were controllable and if Southwest is complying with its customer service plan.

@emergency_CNS I just find it all frustrating because some docs test patients if they sneezed once because someone made lasagna last week and volunteer is wearing purple today. There’s no rhyme or reason. Food poisoning - bad chicken: must be covid!!
