Adewale Adeniyi, who joined the Nigeria Customs Service in the late 1980s, has risen steadily through the ranks. He became Assistant Comptroller-General in 2002, Deputy Comptroller in 2012, and later served as Acting Comptroller-General in January 2023.

Hadejia also praised Adeniyi’s longstanding support for sports development in Nigeria, noting that his contributions over the years have helped sports grow and gain greater recognition.

Reacting to the development, NBSL Coordinator, Mahmud Hadejia, described the extension as a well-deserved reward for hard work, dedication, and consistent performance in public service.

The extension, announced on Friday, will run until February 2027. It is aimed at enabling Adeniyi to consolidate the implementation of the National Single Window initiative and ensure a smooth and orderly succession process within the Customs Service.
