This clip of Zobha reminiscing with Bridget always has me missing their Breakfast Show man.
The last radio show I religiously followed.
Zobha was crazy man 😂🤣
DJ Peter Johns and I first crossed paths way back circa 1990’s when I was presenting ‘Music Box’ from Montrose Studios in Bulawayo which later morphed into ‘Coca Cola on the beat’ , ably fronted by Peter Johns and Patricia Mabviko from Pockets Hill, Harare.
When PJ passed away , I felt he had touched the very core of Zimbabwe’s creative nerve . You were a quiet but formidable force . I remember how star struck I was when I first met you . A young , starry eyed Kevin Ncube was officiating as MC at the Miss Gweru beauty pageant - and you were the DJ PJ , we worked in tandem thanks to the organiser Mavis Koslek !!! Midlands Hotel was jam packed , cameras clicking when we walked in , a thunderous applause , time seemed to stand still that night . By the way , that was my very first big paycheque.
It was you , Peter , who affirmed that MCeeing should be my specialty, if I stayed in that lane that would be my trajectory for a long time to come . That was your superpower Mr Radio Driver . YOU said I was good at it. You were right - the universe conspired. I adored working under your tutelage . We were to meet so many times after that . Long mentorship talks at the Fairmile - we listened to and critiqued many a radio station around the world on your state of the art wireless . You were quite ahead of your time. You were a professor at what you did .
You did not simply work in radio - you gave it soul . You echo still in the stories I tell . Even here at the BBC . Alongside Kelvin Sifelani and Tich Mataz you made us feel that AFRICAN CHILD, YOUR BROADCASTING DREAMS ARE VALID. There was something in that 90s soil - we didn’t just rise , we soared !
We were to meet several times again in the UK , where I wish I’d documented our many reunions on stage …for one , Melissa Darbey Sibanda’s wedding on a boat in London , where you DJ’d and I MC’d. Anyone who was there will remember how I gave you your flowers . I’m glad Mel allowed me the leeway on HER big day - how very gracious of my cuz. In the business, you have to clear these things first , you see.
I’d religiously soak up your advice. More importantly , I liked that you didn’t transgress the rights of others . No distant objectives . Nada.
I woke up thinking of you today gentle heart. My latest broadcast is a tribute to you . I’d be mortified if you don’t watch it Peter.
And as the years pass since you’re going home - I realise I appreciate your incredible legacy even more .
Seeing you in many spaces one knew there was a friend in the room who was so generous with his time and talents.
Rest in power and rise in Glory Peter Johns , broadcaster extraordinaire .
Why Aircraft Store Fuel in the Wings
Fuel is stored in aircraft wings by design—not by necessity—and it is one of the most intelligent structural decisions in aviation.
On modern airliners, the wings themselves form sealed, integral fuel tanks. This approach is driven by physics, weight efficiency, and structural longevity rather than convenience. Using the wing structure as the fuel tank eliminates the need for heavy, standalone containers, saving thousands of kilograms before the aircraft even leaves the runway.
The structural benefits are even more important. In flight, aerodynamic lift bends the wings upward. Fuel weight inside the wings applies a downward force that counteracts this bending moment. The result is reduced stress at the wing root, lower fatigue loads, and a significantly longer airframe service life. In effect, wing fuel acts as a built-in structural counterbalance.
Storing fuel primarily in the fuselage would have the opposite effect. It would increase wing bending forces, demand heavier wing structures, complicate centre-of-gravity management, and introduce additional plumbing and weight penalties. Cars use fuel tanks because they operate on the ground; aircraft place fuel where it actively contributes to structural efficiency in flight.
Both Airbus and Boeing rely on integral wing tanks for this reason. Centre tanks are used only when additional range is required, with fuel carefully sequenced to manage wing loads throughout each phase of flight. Different architectures, same engineering principle.
Wing fuel storage is neither a compromise nor a risk. It is a key reason large aircraft can operate efficiently and safely for decades while enduring repeated stress cycles.
Aircraft don’t store fuel in the wings because there is nowhere else to put it—they do it because it makes the entire airplane lighter, stronger, and safer.
🔙 In 2015, Rafa Benitez's wife said this after her husband became Real Madrid manager:
🎙️ "Real Madrid are the third of José Mourinho's old teams that Rafa has coached. We tidy up his messes."
👀🗣️ This was Mourinho's response:
“The lady is a bit confused with all respect. I’m not laughing, because her husband went to Chelsea to replace Roberto Di Matteo and he went to Real Madrid and replaced Carlo Ancelotti.
The only club where her husband replaced me was Inter Milan, where in 6 months, he destroyed the best team in Europe at the time.
And for her also to think about me and speak about me, I think she needs to occupy her time, and if she takes care of her husband’s diet, she will have less time to speak about me.” ☠️☠️☠️
BREAKING Airbus has requested immediate precautionary action from all A320 operators to implement a software update to ensure their fleet is safe to fly.
Analysis of a recent event involving an A320 Family aircraft has revealed that intense solar radiation may corrupt data critical to the functioning of flight controls.
Airbus has consequently identified a significant number of A320 Family aircraft currently in-service which may be impacted.
Airbus has worked proactively with the aviation authorities to request immediate precautionary action from operators via an Alert Operators Transmission (AOT) in order to implement the available software and/or hardware protection, and ensure the fleet is safe to fly. This AOT will be reflected in an Emergency Airworthiness Directive from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
Airbus acknowledges these recommendations will lead to operational disruptions to passengers and customers. They apologise for the inconvenience caused and will work closely with operators, while keeping safety as their number one and overriding priority.

I met her, the kindest of all the kind souls. Her name is Michelle Yemurai Chirozvi. The angel who brought her story to our attention is Darius; what a good heart. Many of you asked for an update once I found her, and I believe we can show her even more kindness. I’ve asked Darius to receive any contributions on her behalf via Ecocash: 0777 036 316 (Talent Tembani). Please drop something for our Maiguru and let’s all put a smile on her face. Darius will through me account for all funds received by value (donor names will not be recorded), so feel free to give. Retweet and make this reach a wider audience. Famba Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 Famba.
