@poetinbabylon Gen Z’s depression is most likely caused by others’ success. The want to be like all these influencers, combined with the jealousy of their piers accomplishments, creates a new kind of thought process that, I believe, spirals our generation.

@poetinbabylon I’m not saying having people to look up to is bad. I’m saying that feeling negative emotions on yourself or of others based on others’ accomplishments is bad. This is where unrealistic expectations come into play.

@poetinbabylon Not sure if that is normal across generations, but I often find myself combing through the mess that is “information” now and days.

@poetinbabylon It’s hard to wrap my head around, but with access to as much information as Gen Z has, it would almost seem inevitable that we find ourselves in information hell. So much so that we find ourselves questioning everything we’ve been taught.

@poetinbabylon Your strong Gen Z leaders will question all idols/authorities in their life to be able to grow and provide truth for others, rather than be let down and dismissed by their piers and educators.

@poetinbabylon Not necessarily untrustworthy, but rather not understanding. In my experience, some educators and “authoritative” figures look more at relative and academic patterns than individual progress and mental/emotional intelligence. The lack of acknowledgment plays a big role.

@poetinbabylon There are a lot of other issues that link back to pride and envy, but the proposal above is what came to me first!

@poetinbabylon Put these two concepts together and you obtain the wonderful issue of miscommunication between people. Although, a case could be made that the escalation of emotion from miscommunication is the root of the issue.
