A summary of today’s FETSA TLALA food relief program.
As many of us look forward to spending time with family over a scrumptious “7 colour” meal, for some, December is a dark month which reminds them of their socioeconomic standing, as many factories and companies close, abugereza have limited avenues to sell various goods and products.
But as a way to brighten their festivities, both our departments, @OfficialGDARD and @gpgSocDev embarked on a massive food relief program that will see the roll out of:
- warm daily meals for the homeless
- food parcel & an agriculture starter pack for households ensuring that we don’t just provide food temporarily but sustainability through the integration of agriculture.
Our 6000 Gauteng Green Army will help households to establish their backyard gardens and educate them on when and how to plant.
And lastly was the handover of tractors by Premier @Lesufi to deserving farmers who form part of the Department’s commercialisation programme.

Following the trending horrific social media video of a mother violently kicking and standing on the fragile neck of her toddler, we had to move swiftly to ensure the removal and protection of the toddler.
It’s horrendous that this incident occurs during #WomensMonth when we should celebrate women and promote exemplary female figures.
The child is safe, albeit traumatised, as he cried much of the day. We condemn such acts of child abuse and call on society to stamp out child abuse and report such acts immediately. We owe it to our children to create a safe and loving environment for them.
