Cycling, our so beloved sport, can be ever so cruel to watch. We enjoy the riders going all out for a mythical stage win on a mighty mountain. We enjoy riders when they show personality and vulnerability. But on the other hand the downside of it all, is that it can create something indescribable.

What happened today in #Itzulia2024 🇪🇸 is something that no one wants to see. A nasty high-speed crash with several obstacles, waiting on something uncontrollable. We and every cycling lover on this planet, do not want to see a possibly life-threatening crash over and over again. A cycling commentator does not want to provide coverage when such crashes happen. And let’s not talk about the family of the riders. Cruelty on another scale!

Our thoughts are with the riders involved in the crash in The Basque Country, but also with all the other riders recovering from very nasty crashes. Take care, and take your time to recover and spend time with your family! 🕯️
