In his bestselling memoir, JD Vance praised his wife. "Even at my best, I'm a delayed explosionโI can be defused, but only with skill and precision," he wrote. "It's not just that I've learned to control myself but that Usha has learned how to manage me."
Considering all that he has had to say about women staying in violent manages and not changing husbands like underwear, I find this quote from his book troubling.
Important and related point, made beautifully here by @brianbeutler: Reporters themselves know that Dems are on the level and Trump/GOP are lying about who poses the real threat to democracy, and crucially, that applies clearly on other major issues:

Also related, see this very good @jamisonfoser defense of the liberal press critique, taking apart an attack on it from @jaycaspiankang:

Some media figures are eager to portray Trump as a "uniter" after the shooting. Axios is pushing this hard.
But Trump just unleashed a rant that wrecks this storyline, calling Jan 6 a "hoax" and depicting our Justice System as corrupt to its core. 2/

This is galling: Media accounts are noting that both Trump and Dems are attacking the other as a grave threat to democracy.
But Dems base this on what Trump and his allies *say in their own words.* Trump makes shit up.
Media isn't making this clear. 1/

This is also an illustration of how Trump has been normalized by the mediaโs failure to discuss his manifest Cluster B personality disorders.
He is a narcissistic sociopath. He will never be โhumbled,โ because heโs not capable of humility. Or compassion, or empathy, or remorse, or guilt.
