If he wins, he could succeed in getting a suppression order lifted on text messages between Jo Dyer and ABC figures. He could also avoid paying Dyer's legal costs of bringing the court action to get barrister Sue Chrysanthou SC taken off his case @australian

Christian Porter & the ABC were competing so hard on Mon to claim victory they forgot to name the clearest winner. Scott Morrison wins from an outcome that keeps the former A-G out of the courts on an allegation he raped a woman in 1988

Exclusive Former Attorney-General @cporterwa demand that ABC’s “scandalous” legal defence to a defamation case over a rape allegation must be permanently removed from federal court files will be challenged by media organisations including News Corp tmw https://t.co/2Qz4UYuBC6
@tonyr641 @fergusonjw Perhaps it would be wise to do some research of your own. No damages to be paid, but there is an amount to be paid towards costs. Taxpayers who are footing the bill have not been told what the amount is
Many marbles lost on this forum today. Porter & the ABC agreed on terms on which the claim would be withdrawn. That is usually known as a settlement. There was no apology, the article was not taken down, but a note added. There is to be $$ paid, believed to be six figures
@Puccithecat I do not know the exact sum paid. I think taxpayers deserve to be told. ABC says whatever the amount, it relates solely to mediation and related costs. Mr Porter’s legal team said this is “untrue” and his mediation costs were “negligible”
Christian Porter has withdrawn his defamation action after the ABC conceded historical rape allegations could not be substantiated. He is believed to have received $$ towards his substantial legal costs. But the ABC said it had not paid damages https://t.co/ES7BzYDrbP
Christian Porter’s high-profile barrister Sue Chrysanthou SC has been restrained from acting for him in his defamation case against the ABC. Judge finds she had access to relevant confidential information & there was a danger she could misuse it
