@spotrac im still against a hard salary cap since i dont want owners hoarding all the money, but deferred cash allowing the dodgers save 40m a year on ohtani is insane and tax bills need to increase exponentially on spending like this (also at minimum a salary floor)!

I also adjusted the western divisions to reduce the distances even more. The east is a bit messy map-wise but the travel is short enough that it works with MLB realignment and maintaining most rivalries.

I think for a cleaner East/West split, I would swap White Sox & Twins with Brewers & Reds, but this seems more competitively balanced without the Northeast becoming an absolute cluster.

8 Divisions with 4 teams each.

Could look something like this:

Division 1: Mets – Phillies – Pirates - Nationals

Division 2: Yankees – Red Sox – Orioles – Blue Jays

Division 3: Braves – Nashville – Marlins – Rays

Division 4: Cardinals – Cubs – Brewers – Reds

Division 5: Tigers – Guardians – White Sox – Twins

Division 6: Rockies – Salt Lake City – Mariners - Giants

Division 7: Dodgers – Padres – Athletics – Angels
