Honored to be among the first authors of this spectacular team work & very proud to have led the #LiverTransplant arm of this study!
We have shown that #ferroptosis is a promising therapeutic target to safely transplant high-risk grafts!
Thx @CellCellPress for the highlight!
1/ 🧵 I had the honor of leading the #liver arm of a new study just out in @CellCellPress, and I'll say it plainly: the liver data were spectacular! https://t.co/IAsS3w9coe
A single ferroptosis inhibitor given through cold flush and static storage, rescued high-risk DCD grafts!
7/ Thanks to an extraordinary consortium and in particular to @TomVBerghe for involving me in this project and making me discover this exciting new avenue of translational research in #livertransplantation

6/❓What's next for the liver group.
@GIGA_ULiege and #CREDECLab we're now pushing ferroptosis inhibition into the harder problems:
🔵steatotic liver reconditioning under long-term MP
🔵cholangiocellular IRI — the silent driver of late failure
🔵Aim: a first-in-human trial!
Honored to have my @frsFNRS postdoc fellowship renewed!
Grateful for the chance to explore:
🧫 #organoids & cholangiopathy
⚙️ Split liver #NMP
🧲 Ferroptosis in transplant
💥 Resensitizing CCA
Exciting work ahead — thanks for the support! #TransplantResearch
2/ Incredible science, meaningful conversations, and lots of memorable moments — including our team photo 📸
Huge thanks to @ESOTtransplant for an outstanding congress.
Already looking forward to #ESOT2027 in Prague!
1/ #ESOT2025 comes to a close!
Our team @CHULiege & #CREDEC was proud to contribute — from building the 🇪🇺 machine perfusion registry to presenting research & lectures on:
🔮the future of organ assessment & repair
🧫 Cholangiocyte #organoids
🧬 MSC therapy during kidney #NMP
Exciting news!
🌍 We are launching a new membership to make our programmes accessible to healthcare professionals in low- and middle-income countries.
Let’s create opportunities together because talent knows no borders!

When survival of pt w/ unresectable CRC #liver mts gets better than pt w/ resected mts you start asking yourself if we have the moral obligation to offer #LT to all CRC mts despite the limited donor pool... Groundbreaking study & exciting new research ahead! #TransplantOncology

Groundbreaking study and exciting new research ahead!
Honored to be awarded a Lecturer position in clinical medicine at @UniversiteLiege!
Thanks to the Rector and Faculty of Medicine for this opportunity & the insightful welcome seminar.
Excited to inspire students in #AcademicSurgery & #transplant research!

🔚: there is more than meets the eye!!!
🟢 The relation of #NMP & inflammation is complex
🟢 Severity of ischemic injury & timing of NMP may affect inflammation “on-pump”
🟢 Early NMP may better preserve DCDs.
🔜 the next study?
Inflammation in continuous ↔️ end-ischemic NMP!
💡Main takeaways:
1️⃣ Pre-existing injury, especially WI, affects inflammation during NMP
2️⃣ Continuous #liverNMP reduces inflammation even with severe WI injury
3️⃣ Unlike in end-ischemic NMP, where pro-inflammatory cytokines peak early and are higher in DCD than DBD livers
