@KhayyaamButt The point on the game being a space to *exist* in resonates well - I distinctly remember roleplaying faction leaders in Age of Empires II beyond the set objectives just to play more in the space.
@Haidenisa Years, no; months, yes. If there's a clearly communicated waitlist there's 0 issue, but if they've started working on it and it takes literally months to complete it, it just feels dragged on and I have to chase them. I get that creating art can be difficult sometimes but still.
@RYStorm From what I read, it was disabled at launch to let people in to play the game due to the server/login issues with 100k's of players
Maybe a fat disclaimer at the time saying "we've turned it off to let you play but we'll require it down the line" would have worked.

@RYStorm Finally, because it's trying to posit itself as being in the center of things as a standard... what's to say it's not just a competitor? I'm not familiar how the .FBX file or the .OBJ file came to be, but why wouldn't they also want to be considered the "universal" file?
@re7uo66 I'm not an artist but I commission.
Just put a giant watermark over it with your name/handle or "in progress".
For future comms you can consider taking payment after the sketch as a middle ground for both parties like others have mentioned
