Slovakia continues to be the story of this men’s Olympic tournament, 20 minutes away from a semifinal berth after a dominating second period here at Santagiulia Arena, up 4-1. And it’s not the Juraj Slafkovsky story for once. Four different goal-scorers for Slovakia leading the way, including a beauty from Dalibor Dvorsky of the St. Louis Blues. He continues his excellent tournament with his third goal. All of which to say this is not a one-line team. Edmonton Oilers superstar Leon Draisaitl leads all forwards on each team with 18:14 in ice time, Germany getting him over the boards whenever possible. But Germany’s defensive breakdowns in that period were glaring and costly. Too many odd-man breaks given up.
