Congratulations and good luck, Calum!
Chris Smith's amazing shot of an exhausted Barry McGuigan near the end of his title defeat to Steve Cruz in the searing Nevada desert in June 1986. His vacant eyes say it all. He lost the 15th and final round decisively and with it his featherweight crown
🚨🗣 Luis Suárez on Liverpool:
“Liverpool will always be special to me. The city, the fans, everything.”
“Arsenal wanted me, but Barcelona was the move I wanted. Leaving #LFC was difficult.”
“Then I returned with Messi and we lost 4-0 at Anfield. With that Barcelona team, we thought the tie was finished.”
“Liverpool showed me that night why Anfield is different.”

🚨 Víctor Muñoz on life at Liverpool:
🎙️ “I’ve only been here a few weeks, but honestly, I’m loving every minute of it. Liverpool is exactly the kind of club you dream about as a young player the history, the supporters, the pressure, everything.
“The intensity is different. Every training session demands more from you, every game teaches you something, and you quickly understand why this club expects to compete for everything.
“But what I’ve enjoyed most is the people. They’ve made me feel part of the team from the beginning. I’m still learning, still adapting and still discovering the city, but I already feel very comfortable here. I didn’t come to Liverpool just to enjoy the experience. I came here to compete, improve and leave my mark. That’s the mentality.”
I’m told the provision in the deal is NOT a mutual option — meaning, if the consortium wants to become the controlling shareholder at $8b in the next 12 months, it will.
More on the Amit Bhatia-led consortium's purchase of around 30% in Liverpool.
The investment is viewed as a long-term partnership. FSG maintain day-to-day operational control of the club.
Liverpool was not seeking investment out of financial need. Understand this opportunity stood out because of the calibre of the consortium, and the experience and relationships they bring.
Transfer decisions and budget will remain solely with Liverpool's sporting team.
The agreement has some flexibility for how the relationship could evolve over time, but there is no pre-determined path as of now beyond this minority investment.
Senior figures at both FSG and Liverpool have spent considerable time getting to know Bhatia. Sources say he understands the responsibility of investing in a club like #LFC.
The consortium also brings new global relationships, including in India and Asia.
Bhatia is the primary partner in the deal and will be both vice-chairman and join the board.
Jeff Bezos has invested via K5 Sports, but not viewed as day-to-day or too actively involved. Bezos will not sit on the board. K5 Sports' Bryan Baum will represent his interests and will sit on the board.🔴
Fenway Sports Group have announced a strategic minority investment in Liverpool Football Club, entering into a definitive agreement for the sale of a minority equity stake in the club to 1892 Holdings.
