@AnnieChave@WG_RumblePants@NCCA_uk A World Cup, a General Election (3 days later), minor counties cricket on tv and the warmest June since 1858, so hopefully the cricket went ahead.
@prodnose Probably selling ok (number 13). It included his version of ‘Love Will Keep Us Together’ Two years later he wouldn’t need to worry about sales anymore.
@markbutcher72@timwig Maybe an early season B&H type format with 18 counties and 6 associates maintaining groups for consecutive seasons to even out home and away. But it means playing Championship cricket or a second division T20 comp during the Hundred which may be an option if the Hundred goes T20.
Pleased this edition has survived. You can’t tell the story of 1976 without Tina Charles and the Four Seasons. Pretty sure this was the week when Manuel and his Music of the Mountains spent four hours at number one the previous Tuesday afternoon. #TOTP
@MickeyMcCartney@leethommo It’s a shame they can’t show Hamilton’s 26 Feb edition as it’s such a strong line up. I think it’s also the historic week when Rodrigo’s Guitar Concerto was number 1 for four hours.
@leethommo Wonderful record. It would be an Australian number one. A curiosity of this chart is that America’s biggest hit of the 70s is sitting forlornly as a non mover at number 48.
@Radiojottings David Hamilton moved to the morning for the BCR special. They rightly thought it wouldn’t appeal much to his usual afternoon audience that was shared with R2! I’m not sure Noel was on R2 again until his stint on Drive.
@PaulRowleyRadio Ironically today is the 50th anniversary of his Capital All Time Top 100 show with Roger Scott, complete with the greatest false ending to any chart show ever and some very mid 70s adverts!
@WG_RumblePants@bbctms Maybe they will realise their mistake and add him later. It has happened before! Odd that form in the Hundred doesn’t count given the prestige it has. Sympathy also for Smith, just ahead of an Ashes test. At least one senior player rather fortunate to be there.
@leethommo Always thought 2 and 3 should have been the other way round. There wasn’t much space between Under Pressure and Don’t You Want Me but Say Hello, Wave Goodbye as a second single off the back of Tainted Love might just have been another number one.
@leethommo I’d have settled for the video of You Can Call Me Al, Walk Like An Egyptian or, especially, True Colours. There may have been a better show the previous week. #TOTP
@leethommo Think Fluff was moved to weekday afternoons when Tom took over? He might have continued for a couple of years more. But Tom was perfect for the mid 70s or the Abba era. In a tightly packed show ‘8 weeks in the chart for X while Y goes up two places to.. was simple but effective!
@leethommo I loved being near London on a Saturday morning to hear his past / present POTP Take Two on Capital. It was a format that would still work for the album chart now.
