Tomorrow afternoon 20th Dec 2024, at sunset the Solstice lantern will again be lit at Stonehenge & processed to the Warm Springs at Amesbury to celebrate the end of the darkest nights. It will keep burning overnight & return for sunrise where it mysteriously extinguishes itself.
@AnneEBailey1 Happy feast day! Sadly, Osmunda never saw Salisbury or its magnificent cathedral. He was responsible for building the cathedral at Old Sarum, and buried there in 1099. He was moved to the new cathedral in 1457.
@EH_Stonehenge Why ‘huts’ and not houses? They were not temporary structures given the construction time and resources involved. And in terms of design they mirror the ‘houses’ at Skara Brae, Orkney.
