One teaspoon of the neonicotinoids pesticide could kill 1.25 billion bees. And yet the Government could be about to let it back on English fields. Sign the petition: tell Ministers to keep this ban on bee-killing pesticides in place. https://t.co/yPBunZ5Zkl
@RevRichardColes Let us spend a moment lamenting the passing of the florin and the tanner; the sixpence and the thruppney bit, and, of course, the farthing with the wren on there reverse side. Oh, how wonderful they felt in your tweed jacket pocket; how lovely they looked in lamplight. Farewell..
π¨ Stephen Fry just called for water to come into public hands.
82% of the public agree with him.

@georgecmcgavin @Kent_cc May I suggest we write a physical letter asking why they are doing this. Ask specific questions so a standard reply won't suffice, and ask for a detailed written response. Be polite, but be firm. They have to reply, and they may get the message.
@kinlochleven7@ChrisGPackham And that would be 105,000 hectares for a country that has only 13% tree cover - the third lowest in Europe. Mankind's approach - create a problem and then look for a way to combat it... a bit. Why not just look after what we have?!
@Pietros1@ChrisGPackham I suggest, with all due respect, that you read learned papers on the matter, and not what you get when you join-up the dots in the Daily Heil.
@MoleyMole01@Shitlawns@CeliaRichards0n Just think, in a few years when weeds are sprouting through, children have nowhere to play and it is starting to look incredibly shabby, these people will be ripping it up and dumping it in landfill - they NEVER learn.
@oddveg@Shitlawns I deplore plastic sheets on the ground, but I wonder how many of these people realise there is a trend for them being stolen by others who aren't prepared to pay to have their garden destroyed. It's almost poetic justice.
@OrganicConsumer ... and, please can we encourage people to grow some veg of their own? Carrots are as easy as peas, so why not those too. Runner beans are foolproof, and so many others are as easy as [apple] pie - so why not plant an apple tree too?
@IanDunt I tend to agree, but I think the figures this time have been further skewed by tactical voting. Is PR the answer? There was a referendum on this, and the electorate didn't want it. Maybe times have now changed though.
@campbellclaret@DeborahMeaden Just remember, ALL IT TAKES FOR EVIL TO TRIUMPH IS FOR GOOD PEOPLE TO DO NOTHING. IE, remember to vote and don't think others will - they may not. If needed, vote tactically, but DO VOTE. The country deserves better - our children deserve better.
