@ripjetson9 If people quit using through bolts and went to a threaded chassis spud, you would save more weight. Then going to a 5/16" or 3/8" bolt with double shear mounting would be icing on the cake.
@thebriansmith@vangurleyjr I'm not for people getting hurt, but this shit is dangerous. And it should be. I'm all in on making it as safe as possible. God knows I've experienced enough ugly in racing.
@thebriansmith@vangurleyjr Just simply watching pre cage racing vs post cage racing shows whats wrong. When the fear of getting killed goes away and worse yet, zero respect for life and equipment, you get usac midget racing. Zero respect.
@fanusac@ripjetson9@rizzy52 I've seen cages collapse in a simple flip because of these. There isn't any support under then and it just crushes the cage down in a single point.
@SpencerRacing66 I'm getting ready to do the same thing. Ive done a few sprintcars, a couple midgets, and a micro. I picked up a sheet of extreme red yesterday with hopes of a new body for our Stanley. Surprisingly, i dont see anyone in Michigan that works on quarter midgets.
@ripjetson9 Or they could have made sure every titanium bolt only had three threads showing past the nut. Or install threaded spuds in the chassis so you use a 1.5" long bolt rather than a 2.75" long bolt. Tabs dont save weight. Proper thinking does
