🇹🇼🇰🇷 Day 4 focused on housing—not just building more units, but creating affordable homes and livable communities.

We began with Professor Kim Soo-hyun (김수현) of Sejong University (세종대학교), a former presidential secretary for national policy. Reflecting on Taiwan’s two decades of social housing efforts, he emphasized that the challenge goes beyond land, funding and delivery models: does the government truly treat housing as a public priority?

He noted that pledges to expand social housing in Taiwan have yet to translate into substantial increases in supply, calling for stronger public commitment, incentives for private-sector participation and dedicated institutions. He also discussed Korea’s “2+2” lease protections, a 5% cap on rent increases at renewal, and rental-contract reporting, while stressing that tenant protections must go hand in hand with expanded public housing and institutional reform.

At the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Housing Office (서울특별시 주택실) @Seoul_gov, officials introduced SHome (미리내집), launched in 2024. By combining stable rental housing with opportunities to purchase at preferential prices, the program seeks to ease housing pressures on young people and newlyweds, helping them plan for marriage and parenthood.

Our field visits then took us to Gyeonggi Housing & Urban Development Corporation (GH, 경기주택도시공사)’s Dasan Jigeum A5 Gyeonggi Happy Housing, where homes for young people, newlyweds and older residents are complemented by childcare facilities and family spaces.

At the Paju Project Headquarters of the Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH, 한국토지주택공사), we learned how large-scale land assembly enables housing, roads, public transport and community facilities to be planned together—building neighborhoods, not just apartment blocks.

social housing is about more than finding land and constructing buildings. It requires sustained commitment and planning around residents’ lives—connecting housing with transport, childcare and eldercare. We are bringing these lessons home to inform practical housing reform.

Bitcoin dumps on golden crosses are normal.

What is more telling is the bounce after the golden cross dump is over.

In 2019/2023, Bitcoin dumped into the golden cross then put in a higher high, thus confirming the end of the bear market.

In 2014/2015, Bitcoin dumped into the golden cross, then put in a lower high, and the bear market continued.

A higher high (if achieved) would likely correspond to a weekly close above the 50W SMA (which is a good predictor of the bear market being over).

A lower high (rejected at the 50W) would be a sign that the Q4 low occurs right on schedule.

To summarize:

The dump BTC is experiencing right now has happened previously in bear markets and in the beginning of bull markets. The thing to watch for whether the low is behind us is after this dump is over, does Bitcoin print a higher high (and go above the 50W) or a lower high (rejected again).

Once that data point arrives, it would likely be the nail in the coffin for either the bull or the bear case.
