We’ve reached the part of Freddy’s journey when a private jet operator, two $5B+ airlines and the Governor of Utah are sliding into his DMs so he can make it to Canada to watch the German World Cup team play. Incredible.
Telemundo is one of the only World Cup broadcasters in the world not showing ads during hydration breaks.
"We prefer the old school way. We should be able to see what the players do. We show fans, people enjoying, not the corporate direction of football."
German man touring the American South. Scottish people drinking all the beer on their flight to Boston and playing bagpipes outside their AirBnB. University of Kansas marching band learning Algeria's national anthem to play it for the team.

My favorite thing about the World Cup isn’t even the soccer. It’s watching our international guests discover America.
One woman from just discovered that the Amish are real. Not “real” as in a historical footnote. Real as in horse-and-buggy, no electricity, still-here-today real. She wrote the most wonderfully wholesome thread about it.
Then there are the people discovering Buc-ee’s for the first time. Honestly, I understand the reaction. The first time I walked into one, I lived in Texas and was still completely overwhelmed. You don’t “stop for gas” at Buc-ee’s. You enter a parallel dimension where there are 120 gas pumps, enough jerky to feed a small nation, and people leave with armloads of merchandise they never intended to buy.
Watching visitors discover Buc-ee’s, the Amish, county fairs, roadside attractions, and all the other uniquely American things has been unexpectedly hilarious, heartwarming, and fun. Sometimes it takes fresh eyes to remind us just how interesting this country really is. 🇺🇸
It’s the most wonderful day ever on Twitter because my entire feed is full of European World Cup tourists losing their mind about how great America is 😭😭 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🦅 🎆
I love every video I see of foreign soccer fans in the US for the World Cup.
In the span of three minutes, I saw a Brit get evacuated from a Louisiana hotel pool because of lightning, a Norwegian child order In n Out and Swedes discover Costco.
Let’s do this every year.
