@CashApp@milessuter Have you been building the square lightning btc backend with expandability in mind? Like if toast or clover reached out and said they wanted to integrate the same btc payment options, could they?
@CashApp@milessuter In terms of NY support we’ve heard “We’re working on it” but it would be great to have more details about the specifics of the process with things like dates and how that process has been going so far. Lots of people/businesses in NY would love more info on this!
@ESCOweb3 personally I think a self refilling treasury for the group mind of cardano to have access to is good, but we need to be realistic that the sustainable size of that moving forward will be quite a bit smaller. Voluntary higher transaction fees to fund it could be interesting
@ESCOweb3 The dynamic at play here is top down vs bottom up funding. Sustainability tends to grow naturally with actual demand but that is a pretty slow process. Top down tends to be “throw a lot at the wall and see what sticks”. Not bad all the time but expectations are often overblown
@milessuter@jack@CashApp@blocks Not quite btc related but it would be cool - for stocks/etfs etc to have the ability to make portfolios kinda like in M1 Finance. Also have retirement accounts and joint accounts
@TylerInNiagara@BitcoinPierre@Square i think we’re still in the “slowly at first” stage. Thinking it’ll probably take decades not years. Availability to all square users in the US feels like a different caliber than the hyper early experiments you’re talking about- but time will tell!
@rajatsoni@PeterSchiff I believe btc is the future of this type of scenario but posts like this always make me cringe. No gold bug thinks that’s how it’s gonna go down - they’ll be using something like @Glintpay for day to day transactions since they’re ok with more counterparty risk
@TylerInNiagara@BitcoinPierre@Square is throwing that ball up - we’ll see how many businesses jump up to catch it. My prediction is slowly at first then more and more as the businesses who do outlast the businesses who dont
@MikeSilagadze For certain fun use cases like online betting markets, things like solana will do well and there’s certainly a market for it but Bitcoin will win the “completely removed alternative form of money” game and it not being able to do as much else actually helps it with that game
@MikeSilagadze Big fan of lots of different cryptos as well, but i really don’t see things getting priced in eth, avax, or cardano someday. I do see everything getting priced in bitcoin one day and using crypto for things like no intermediary bitcoin backed loans
