E. O. Wilson has died, aged 92. An exceptional biologist, often compared to Darwin, and best known for his work on ants and island biogeography. [Image Jim Harrison CC 2.5]
I find it so ridiculous that new dinosaurs and hominids make it into @nature but basically no other taxonomic descriptions apparently qualify. The new Stegouros is no more elaborate or interesting a discovery than typical new frogs, lizards, or fish. https://t.co/FUoT4AO6tI
@birdturntable I was under the impression that the “doves” at weddings were actually just white homing pigeons that return to the loft of the person who owns them when released. Are unscrupulous people actually using white ringneck doves?
Hot take: if it takes two hours for someone to read just your methods and results sections and your paper has 17 separate figures, and it’s not advertised as a “monograph,” you should really have split this into multiple manuscripts.
