Also don’t remember. But it’s been living rent free in my head ever since. Puts a very important truth that you intuit when building companies in a very accessible form.
A relic of a bygone era. Re-read Den of Thieves recently, and what struck me is that most of the guys running the merger departments at these major investment banks were in their late 30s/early 40s. People that age today are generally stalling out at the VP level.

1/ Data businesses are generally misunderstood. DaaS has different metrics than SaaS.
While there has been a lot written about SaaS businesses (how they operate, what metrics to watch, etc.), there has been surprisingly little written about data businesses.
If you skip some or all of college to start a startup, it's on you to develop your mind the way college would have. And that's not something that happens by default in most startups.

BREAKING: A Syrian billionaire needed U.S. sanctions lifted so he could cash in on $12 billion in reconstruction contracts, per NYT.
In an attempt to influence American foreign policy, he proposed a Trump-branded golf course, cut Jared Kushner & Ivanka Trump into a multibillion-dollar real estate deal for a resort in Albania, and had someone physically deliver a stone engraved with the Trump family crest to a Republican Member of Congress with instructions to take it to the White House to get the President's attention.
Trump threw his weight behind repealing the sanctions. They were lifted. The contracts are moving, and the Trump family’s deals are expanding.

Your smart TV is taking screenshots of your screen every 15 seconds.
Not a guess. Not a theory.
A peer-reviewed study by researchers at UC Davis, UCL, and UC3M tested it.
Samsung TVs: every minute.
LG TVs: every 15 seconds.
Even when you're just using it as a monitor.
Here's how to turn it off for every brand:
Seller taking a $25,000 loss on this house.
They bought at pandemic peak and tried to rent it out.
But the rental market turned south, rents getting cut, property taxes up.
And now the owner has been trying to sell for nearly a year, and has cut from $310k original purchase to $285k today.
It's a pretty nice house, actually.
But in a market with big downside risk. (south of Atlanta, crashed 60% in the last downturn).
What would you offer? Reventure's listing tool says $235,000 is the fair price.
You can really tell America is winning this war when the president panic posts “open the fuckin’ strait, you crazy bastards” at 5 am on Easter Sunday along with an extension on their deadline
