To be ready to tackle The Ultimate Human Race, you need to train both body and mind, so we thought we will help you to get some abdominal muscles working and give you some positive mental vibes, by taking you back to some funny moments in 1986. The photo shows Bruce Fordyce sticking out his tongue. He celebrated his 6th victory that year and cemented his position as the King of Comrades. That year he was quoted saying: “I was much more relaxed than I was last year and thought ‘if you lose, you lose’ and that worked”. Little did he know he would achieve a further 3 victories (1987, 1988 and 1990).

During the 1986 race three port-a-loos went missing, and the Comrades Marathon Association published the following notice:

“P.S. – Anyone knowing the whereabouts of the three port-a-loos that disappeared during the race are asked to contact the Comrades Marathon Association. You can keep the contents - just return the loo!
