Fred was one of the very few people I met through the Opie & Anthony Show who became a great friend of mine for many years.
The guy was always there to help if needed. Sometimes to the point where I’d have to say, “I got it Fred! Jeeze!” Really funny and great to hang out with. He could bust balls with the best of them and I’ll tell you, around the poker table, that was a necessary talent! A fantastic family man. Old school. Loved his wife Michelle, his kids and grandkids. Worked hard and played hard.
He gave it his best shot fighting cancer. Everyone who knew him was proud of how he handled a very unfavorable prognosis with courage and humor.
While I’m sad he’s gone, I have awesome memories of some great times. That’s what I’ll focus on. Rest easy pal.

@keithhernandez laughs but it's true. His ancestors fought sabre-toothed tigers. His father's side went face-to-face with Taino savages and won. His mother's side fought the English for 300 years and then made it through the American civil war. They finally made a starling of an athlete that had few natural predators in North America. Seeing videos of so many people from other countries that are here for the World Cup and are absolutely in awe of the United States says a couple of things.

First, we are so used to seeing only unappreciative third world burdens coming here as “migrants” and doing nothing but leeching off the system and talking crap about America.

Second, seeing Europeans from civilized western nations come here by the thousands and enjoy themselves, no fighting, no stabbings, no vandalism, just what looks like a great time. It’s a look at what America could possibly be if we only accepted immigrants who are of similar cultures and respect the same ideals.

Third, maybe we do take this amazing country for granted. The tourists are stunned by how much we have and how beautiful our country is. It’s hard to appreciate though when so many people who call themselves “Americans” are shitting all over it.
It’s been eye opening.

Adam West, who played the TV Batman, visited the WHBQ studios in Memphis while in town for a boat show. He's there to confront the EVIL King of Memphis, Jerry Lawler, who comes out dressed as Superking. This is a very strange encounter. It seems like Adam West has been dipping in the bat juice . .
