@Thomo_Grant Better solution. Essendon could actually build itself into a successful football club, raise standards, develop better, make coaches and players accountable. Then maybe there would be less 'weaknesses' to be highlighted on a whiteboard.
@DCampagna13@godolphin@Racing Not to mention good horses dodging each other to protect records & trainers apologizing 4 testing horses at untried distances. The idea of sport is to have the best compete with each other but racing lost that identity years ago when it started prioritizing rich men's wallets.
@TravTurf@Racing_Previews So the handicapper doesn't take any context in to account. Giga had only won once at 1000m in 5 attempts back at it's second ever start in handicap level. Baraqiel has never beaten an A grade field nor won at Flemington.
@DCampagna13@essendonfc We fumbled the ball with D'Ambrosio while trying to invent ways to hide Heppell in the backline last year when he was no longer AFL standard. They should've retired him last year. But if Tippa got a farewell(which he shouldn't have), then surely a club captain is entitled to one.
@essendonfc@DCampagna13 about time they had the guts to actually drop some big names & not hide it under 'managed'. Still a couple of lucky blokes(Perkins, Cox) and going back to 2 rucks is a joke but I'm sure the podcasters will say it's about structure & advanced analytics.
@pauljames1968 Absolutely not Paul. There are enough players playing in the seniors already that probably don't deserve their spot. Let's not give another spot away cheaply for a farewell game for a player that may have been a cult hero to some, but in reality is miles off deserving a farewell.
@pauljames1968 If a first round draft pick is up for grabs then I'm trading Parish. No hate, but our list is clogged with players who can get the ball but don't use it well. Can use pick to draft or trade in skill players in the mold of Whitfield, Dale, Salem, etc assist forward transition.
@JonathanJWalsh@DCampagna13@BomberRicko You on the ladder, and convincingly, then surely some of those players aren't playing at the required standard. At that stage you should reward players who have been knocking at the door at VFL. We only promote when we have injuries. There should be constant contrition for spots.
@JonathanJWalsh@DCampagna13@BomberRicko Again it's not just about playing kids. I think Scott was the right choice, still do. And yes the club have made changes that I hope will have long term benefits. We can have good losses and reward those guys by keeping their spots. But when you lose to teams that are around.....
@JonathanJWalsh@DCampagna13@BomberRicko Hot and cold, overweight, we accept it. Even good players should keep on improving on their game. We don't demand enough of our players. It's easy to become complacent when there's no threat of losing your spot and too many guys have that luxury at Essendon.
