Part of the deep ‘unhappiness’ that drives people to the authoritarian right, is having a socio-economic system that treats the 99% as existing solely to service ‘the economy’.
All of us, our children included, ARE the economy. Their well-being is important and it should be balanced with academic achievement as part of broader holistic approach.

Some very wealthy people are arguing it’s unfair to close inheritance tax loopholes because they bought farmland specifically to avoid inheritance tax. What’s odd is that they’re making that case *out-loud*. And seem to think it’s an argument that will provoke sympathy.
After watching Ch4 #Dispatches tonight and then having a #TheCure night, seems appropriate to dust off this clip of Robert Smith. My sentiments exactly. And on the same weekend when those in privileged positions are calling people on benefits parasites.
