Never make changes that make the football uniforms tamer because some faceless people on the internet don't like black.
We'll get more recruits in the long run by consistently wearing uniforms that the players want to wear.
Never make changes that make the environment tamer because some old-head donor thinks it’s too loud or the kids are too rude.
We’ll get more donations in the long run by being a consistently intimidating environment that people want to be a part of.
Some travel delays and the bitter cold has thrown a wrench in my chicken parm tradition. My entry for Fort Wayne is this chicken parm roll from Big Apple Pizza. Was it as good as a plate of chicken parmigiana, no. But it was still good.
On my way to the Midwest Fish and Wildlife Conference in St. Louis we stopped by George's Pizza and Steak in Columbia, Missouri to fulfill my pre-conference chicken parm obligation.
The transfer portal closed last night. From my tracking, Iowa State Football had 58 transfers enter the portal, 8 of which haven't announced a landing spot. The 50 who did announce a new school are spread across 23 universities. 24 followed Campbell to PSU.
The 2026 roster currently has 86 confirmed players with an average eligibility of 2.66 years. There are 27 players that were on the 2025 roster that I have listed as an unknown status, meaning they never announced staying or leaving.
Even though @ChrisMWilliams will slap me for saying this, I’m going to say it:
It will extremely disappointing if Iowa State loses at Phog next week. They are extremely pedestrian.
I know it’s Kansas. I know it’s the Phog. I know it’s hard to win on the road.
Beating above average teams on their court is what you have to do to win a Big 12 Championship.
@mred53@WideRtNattyLt Where would Notre Dame fit in all of this? Are those conference games or the +1 games? Do they provide the even number to make 9 league games possible?
I held out hope that Campbell would stay until the announcement was made, then I held out hope that ~75% of players would stay. "Lack of healthy players to safely practice and play" has made me lose that hope. This is going to be a rebuild.
Yesterday was tough for the Big 12 in the Big 12/Big 10 turf war. My alma mater (Iowa State) lost its football coach to Penn State, which long ago harvested our most renowned wrestling alumnus (Cael Sanderson) to serve as their wrestling coach.
Today, though, we took back some ground thanks to an ISU basketball win at #1 Purdue.
There's still some territory to be retaken. My hopes are pinned on Iowa State's most renowned basketball alumnus (Fred Hoiberg), who coaches at Nebraska, finally being activated out of sleeper mode and, under the cover of darkness, bringing Nebraska back to the conference it belongs in.
Then we can turn our attention to the SEC. How do we get Missouri and Oklahoma back*? Do you want Houston, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Arizona, and Arizona State? Oh and Central Florida. I forgot about them. As one does.
Forgive us: we just want the world to make sense again.
Also: please don't steal T.J. Otzelberger.
*Texas, you can go straight to hell.
@ChrisMWilliams@DerekHoodjer@CycloneFB I stand with Chris that this logo would look great on any helmet other than a red on BUT after getting cynado back why bother?
