Thinking back, Caleb's karma is really real. I started playing exactly one week before his debut, so basically I started from version 3.0. Before playing, I quite liked Xavier & Sylus's designs, but once I started, my first impression was that Xavier was too cold to me,

Have you noticed that, after reading Caleb’s Branch, it feels as though we’ve known two different Gideons all along?

In the Branch, there is none of that playful, sometimes almost clingy friend (practically a Caleb fanboy) we knew from his comments under posts. Gideon is presented as a deeply written character who never simply regarded Caleb as an “idol.” No, he considers himself Caleb’s equal, and he saw their relationship as a friendship between equals. (Of course, he never managed to see through Caleb completely, because Caleb is so good at pretending to care about anyone other than his MC.)

And yet, the fact that Caleb had been alive all this time while Gideon was left believing he had lost his friend clearly affected the way they communicate now. Every one of Gideon’s lines is filled with such deep hurt and resentment toward Caleb. Him cursing Caleb out, him admitting that he had hoped to sneak in a few punches while Caleb was glitched out… None of it is merely banter or a joke. There is genuine intent behind it, because the pain, anger, and resentment inside him really do run that deep.

But here is what I actually wanted to say: go back and reread the things Gideon writes to Caleb. After reading the Branch, many of those messages no longer seem quite so friendly or harmless. It feels as though some of them carry that same pain—that same attempt to take a jab at Caleb and tell him what he truly feels through a joke.

The image only shows the first things I noticed. I may well be reading too much into them, but at the same time, the fact that the Branch has changed the way I see certain moments in the game feels so… satisfying? And yet, it’s also sad that all this time we’ve known two different Gideons simply because the developers didn’t show us what his relationship with Caleb is like now sooner. I’m sure so many things would have been seen in a completely different light.

I'm thinking about whether I should include a section in the survey requesting that PPG add a section about the psychological impact on the MC when experiencing the shock of losing loved ones & being injured after a house explosion. Imagine a sudden explosion your closest brother

& then there's the part where you meet him again & he pretends not to know you, questioning you. He only later admits: "Yes, I'm your brother. I'm back". Given the MC's personality, I think the first thing to do is rush over & punch him a few times to vent your anger, then cuddle
