THREAD! Friends, I could really use your help this week.
In just under 81hrs the chart closes for release week. If you haven’t bought BUILD SOMETHING BETTER yet, please do it today!
If you still need convincing, get a load of these numbers…. 👇🏻
A 🧵 on #AIDS in the 80s/90s:
I was 15 when I first had sex with a man.
I’d snuck off to London’s Heaven nightclub with the express intent of ridding myself of my ‘gay virginity’, a goal I achieved easily with a visiting American photographer.

Finally been hit by the ADHD medication shortage. We had been lucky i know. I rang over 10 pharmacies before managing to find 16 tablets for my terrified autistic brother! Last time he was off his medication he became suicidal. How is this allowed to happen!?
I have just finished another set of incredibly difficult weekend nights as the A&E consultant incharge.
Some thoughts:
The NHS no longer provides unscheduled care - we provide treatment. Care is with dignity - that's impossible for our patients in corridors.
The model of acute care is not working or sustainable. We need a completely different approach - with long term investment in prevention and community care
111 need to change risk thresholds as far too many come to a&e when they don't need to.
There needs to be alternative pathways to get care overnight for those who don't have accidents or emergencies. A&E shouldn't be anything and everything
Staff are broke - supporting staff is just as vital as looking after patients
This government have totally decimated our the NHS. They are the ones who should be apologising to our patients not our staff.
Hundreds are dying each week because of lack of hospital capacity and corridor care in a&e, yet it's not on the news and no public uproar. As staff and patients we have accepted the unacceptable.
Everyone needs to know the reality of what is happening - so that politicians offer a different solution and patients get the care they deserve. Sadly most of the public have no idea of what is genuinely going on.
And finally, a post night fry up is the best antidote for the stresses of the weekend. Goodnight!
For those who don't fully understand what is up with the NHS, here is a thread for you that might help.
I'm a consultant physician working as a doctor in the NHS in Yorkshire and Wales for 32 years now. I have experienced the NHS at its best (2008) and its worst (2022).
Last night Parliament had the opportunity to vote to support a ceasefire and the release of hostages in Gaza.
Sadly, the Labour party is in chaos and is failing to deliver what constituents are demanding.
Is your MP on the list?

RETENTION
That’s it RETENTION it’s really that simple
RETENTION should be the key element in the ‘Workforce Plan’
Didn’t see RETENTION highlighted with lots of ways to keep the current workforce, the plan will fail
Don’t be fooled by Med school places & apprenticeships
Finding more and more people coming in to inpatient MH services who are clearly undiagnosed ASD. Covid, carer bereavement and retirement being main triggers for MH decline. Wondering if others are finding this elsewhere and can discuss best practices? #Autism#mentalhealth
@Dmdav1 One of my biggest issues with mental health servicea is autistic people being treated on LD wards. The wards are not built with autism in mind and staff are not trained to even understand nevermind treat mental health and autism. This so often leads to the person's distress.
@adamfare1996 My brother is autistic and has adhd. He managed to get through college and university with support. He's been trying for a job since he graduated nearly 4 years ago. No one will give him a shot because of the support he needs. It's heartbreaking.
Another job application rejection for my poor brother. Autistic. Special needs school. Mainstream college. University. He's always overcome any challenge yet employment seems to be one he can't crack 😞 It's so frustrating when he is so desperate to work.
Nurses will withdraw nursing across all mandated trusts from all clinical areas for 48 hours in March.
@SteveBarclay and @RishiSunak can stop this, and only them, by simply agreeing to talk to the RCN.
They need to do so now.
Retweet if you agree!

Today's thought:
As nurses we are trained to look after our patients but often we forget to look after each other. Your team will get you through the tough days. Look after them. One day when you need it they will look after you💙
Shall we start a thread of when a healthcare worker went above and beyon?
I’ll go first. When my dad was dying from Covid and we weren’t allowed in, the HCA sat with him stroking his hair until he passed. Risked her life so my dad wouldn’t be alone when he died.
We see you!
Let me break down for you the current rail dispute between the @RMTUnion and Network Rail and the 14 other train operating companies.
The following tweets will contain information that the media and the politicians are conveniently not telling you.
Have a read. A THREAD! 🧵
If there is one thing you RT about the Royal Mail Group strikes please make it this thread.
The CEO, Simon Thompson wrote to customers today.
The letter was full of untruths.
In this thread we set the record straight.
#StandByYourPost
This Christmas there will be:
No trains to get home.
No baggage handlers for flights.
No posties to deliver presents.
No nurses or paramedics if you get sick.
This is ALL because of the Tory government. Workers deserve better than relying on food banks.
Support strikers.
