@UofG_SES@SESGSC Great question! Probably that it is really important to understand the relationship between PFAS and agroecosystems as it can lead to reducing exposure. My hope is that my research will achieve this.
@KimberMunford@SESGSC There has been some research done by Blaine et al. 2014 and Maio et al. 2017 that suggests that increased OM does decrease plant uptake of PFAS by interacting with PFAS. It would be interesting to see how different types of OM would affect plant uptake!
@KimberMunford@SESGSC PFAS is water soluble so as long as the PFAS is mixed in well, completely dissolved, and you don't water the plants above the WHC it should be taken up well. There are other factors such as organic matter content that would influence plant uptake. Thanks for your questions:)
@KimberMunford@SESGSC Thanks Kimber! The PFAS was dissolved in water and then incorporated into 1000 grams of soil and the soil was evenly divided into 10, 4inch pots. The amount of water used was decided based on the water holding capacity of the soil.
