Motivating and moving talks from experts in critical care to patients and whānau sharing their stories at @anzics today. The biggest take home messages: communication is key 🔑 along with compassion, human connection, and team work.
Well done Vivian for highlighting issues in our community and bringing some of these stories to life. See my comments on how it can affect our mental health

On the journey to heal, we can often feel worse before we feel better.
That doesn’t mean it will always feel that way, but it can be so discouraging when we finally take the step to go to therapy, ask for help, and face what is inside.
Awesome to see all this awareness. 👏🏽Yesterday I co-facilitated 2x Stress First aid courses w/ theatre staff - w/the aim to create peer responders to prevent burnout 🙏🏽

We are seeing disproportionate number of pregnant women with COVID coming through ED at the moment. Often unvaccinated, or incompletely so. Some are critically unwell. If you know or are caring for someone who is pregnant, please encourage vaccination against COVID.
Lori Gottlieb invited us into her world with a story as both clinician and patient in Maybe You Should Talk to Someone. Now she’s joining Jill to give expert advice on how to tell your own story, and get unhooked from aversive narratives and patterns. Join us!
Today was a bitter sweet day as I said haere rā to the burns team. So much has happened in the last 2 years from Whakaari to COVID - it has been a fun and wild journey. Looking back I feel like I grew exponentially as a clinician & developed a special interest in burns and pain.
