To put this in perspective: the MPPs who live more than 50km from Queen’s Park are allowed to rent an apartment/etc. - and many of them spend less for a full year of rent than Charmaine Williams did on Toronto hotels.
I watched today's wildfire press conference in Thunder Bay, Ontario, through angry tears.
First Nations leaders described years of unanswered requests for resources, persistent breakdowns in emergency communication, communities unable to reach emergency officials, and being left without timely or accurate information during evacuations and uncertainty.
Their accounts align with what we've been hearing from responders and emergency management professionals on the ground.
They also stand in stark contrast to the Ontario government's public account of this wildfire season.
One example: On Saturday, Minister @mikeharrisjrpc stated that the fire that destroyed Collins First Nation (the Dryden 13/Wabakimi Park fire) had started the previous day. In reality, the fire was first reported on May 31 and had been burning for weeks; a fact documented in local media and confirmed by the community.
Northern communities deserve answers. They deserve accountability, not accusations that they are politicizing an emergency. They deserve a public inquiry.
I join the growing call for a public #OntarioWildfireInquiry.

A three week vacation ended when ICE pulled his car over in Florida. He was two days away from getting on a plane back to his family.
Juan Jairo Coronilla Duran is the third ICE-related death in a single week. #AbolishICE
Another Ford Minister on the gravy train:
In one year, Piccini expensed $50,000 for restaurants, hotels and a limo using donor and taxpayer dollars from his Riding Association.
Piccini is Ford's Minister of Labour who handed out $800 million taxpayer dollars to Conservative friends and donors—including $10 million to Ford's friend who owns a strip club for "staff training" in the Skills Development Fund scandal.

NEW: Doug Ford railed against his own MPPs for claiming hotel stays in downtown Toronto, telling them they'd all have to pay it back.
The thing is, it was actually the government that told them to use the perk in an email last year. #Onpoli

@Saffron_Sniper1 Is this guy the hero to men that we are lead to believe?
He’s beating and raping a 15 year old child - any man claiming to be a fan of this guy is a danger to women
Since @fordnation became Premier, MPP expenses have increased by 31%.
Have our school budgets increased by 31%?
Have hospital budgets increased by 31%?
Have ODSP and OW rates increased by 31%?
Has minimum wage increased by 31%?
NEW: Donors to the PC Party have funded thousands of dollars in meals, flights and hotel room costs for Willowdale MPP Stan Cho — a former senior minister in Premier Doug Ford’s cabinet who resigned amid a spending scandal at Queen’s Park.
Between 2023 and 2026, the MPP billed the office for pricey dinners at steakhouses and lobster restaurants, airline tickets, hotel stays at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier and even the cost of renting a vehicle from a limousine company.

@maddenifico Not a fan of McConnell but it is strangely sad yet fitting that the longest serving senator isn’t getting the usual accolades following his death because they are secretly burying him without fanfare
The Ontario @fordnation government budgeted less for wildfire management across the entire province in 2026 ($150M) than it plans to spend on a parking garage in Toronto ($200M).
That's it. That's the tweet.
