'UPI CESS' Short and simplified. No confusion. No jargons. Here are examples from your wallet for better understanding.

1: You send 50,000 rupees to your mom on UPI. Charges? ZERO. Because person-to-person is free forever, even for 1 lakh. (Gazette- P2P is free)

3: And this is where it changes. You go to buy sneakers for 6,000 rupees at a big brand store, using UPI. Yoi still pay 6,000. But that big store owner pays 24 rupees as MDR to the bank. That's the 0.4% cess. (Gazette- 0.4% cess on P2M transactions over Rs 2000)
