Happy to announce that the results of the SCRaTCH trial are online and downloadable! https://t.co/ctnuGgpMF2 Next steps: finish the IPD on this topic... to be continued
Still cannot conclude if (and/or for whom) endometrial scratching works. 3 large trials (with different populations) had different results. To be continued... #IPD#ESHRE2020
@RuiWangMD@maclaudiaa @SofiaMakieva @jd_wilko Agree with this order of logical studying; but where to start looking for the biomarker 🩸?
In the IPD? Or by searching for tissue markers🔬🧬?
#ESHREjc
@maclaudiaa@LaurCraciunas@samueldsribeiro Some studies do describe exactly what they did, but there is no single guideline for how to do it. So I guess everyone tries to come up with the best method #ESHREjc
@MackensShari@LaurCraciunas @SofiaMakieva Exactly. It all started in search for the underlying biology, but then was quickly overtaken by studies on efficacy. These two should go more hand in hand: the possible biology could help us direct whether to continue our search and also which timing / method to apply #ESHREjc
@LaurCraciunas Based on the current evidence we can neither say that it does work nor that it doesn't work. We should first wait for the results of our own SCRaTCH trial as well as the one by @metwally01 and the IPD. Then see if that's enough.. #ESHREjc
@MackensShari@samueldsribeiro@maclaudiaa Hopefully the IPD will provide some answers (or at least a clue where to look further).. I think the best strategy is to gather all available data and see if that gives us an answer #ESHREjc
@juliauraji@maclaudiaa@samueldsribeiro @SofiaMakieva Blinding is indeed a problem in scratch research. Some trials perform something like this @juliauraji but as @SarahLensen described in her thesis, many women could still guess their allocation https://t.co/dr5NTbTRQQ
@juliauraji All good points 👆. the biological effect of scratching was unknown but we started testing its effectiveness in patients; there are so many variations possible (patient characteristics, timing, scratch device) that it’s difficult to find out what works, if it works #ESHREjc
