Kavach is indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system.

It is developed by Indian Railways through the Research Designs & Standards Organization (RDSO).

Kavach protects trains against Signal Passing at Danger (SPAD), excessive speed, and collisions.

🔴 Kavach operates through continuous real-time communication between trackside systems and locomotives using secure Ultra High Frequency (UHF) radio antenna and track-mounted Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags.

RFID tag installed on the track/trackside at predefined locations.

RFID reader installed on the locomotive (onboard Kavach equipment).

As the train passes, the onboard RFID reader detects the track-mounted tag, allowing Kavach to identify the train's location/reference point.
