FTSE Russell has confirmed that Nigeria’s reclassification to Frontier Market status will proceed from the open of trading on 21 September 2026.
In its latest market notice, FTSE Russell noted that following further assessment and engagement with Nigerian market authorities, ���no material settlement, operational, or funding issues have been observed since the implementation of the T+1 settlement cycle.”

Airtel Africa posts strong Q1 FY2027 results, led by data and mobile money
Airtel Africa's pre-tax profit came in at $360 million, up from $173 million in the same quarter last year. Profit after tax stood at $198 million, while revenue rose 31% to $1.85 billion — with Nigeria remaining a core part of the business.
