The Ivoriens will want to impress. They were beaten in the group stage by this same Nigerian side and were lucky to even qualify, now they are in the final.

Despite all the praises for Jose Peseiro in this AFCON, there is still something he should know.

Yes, he and Nigeria have done well, but he has not achieved anything yet. His AFCON starts on Wednesday against the South Africans

The 1-0 win over Angola further buttressed the fact that whatever Peseiro did, the Super Eagles at least have an identified playing style at the AFCON, something the past coach, Gernot Rohr had no idea how to achieve.

The thing is that the current Super Eagles have not been super, at least, not in the past 8 years.

The same can be said of Cameroon. These days, the group that wears the jersey are a bunch of jokers who are anything but Indomitable.

Maybe Yakubu lied. Victor Osimhen was fed overdose; Zaidu Sanusi had a table laid before him and Ademola Lookman also had a three-course meal served to him. So profligacy was a major problem on Sunday after the strikers were fed.

There are minnows in football, but countries that fail to plan will plan to fail. Guinea Bissau gave a good account of themselves, but they are what they are and were treated as such. The Ivorian should have scored more.

Like Yakubu Aiyegbeni said while he played for Portsmouth, “Feed me and I will score.”

If the strikers are not fed, the Super Eagles will lack goals.

Nigerians have been used to classic number tens. In the 70s we had Haruna Ileirika and in the 80s, it was Henry Nwosu. Etim Esim wore it before Austin Jay Jay Okocha entertained for the long haul in that jersey.

Leroy was asked in 1988, why his team did not score more than a goal in any game they played.
He said Cameroonian mothers did not give birth to good strikers
Maybe this is a case of Nigerian mothers not giving birth to good defenders any more

Since Peseiro became the coach, he has tried Uzoho and Adeleye. He only used Adeleye once because Uzoho was suspended. This should send a message about what he may do.
