So, farewell then Sir Brian Jenkins GBE 3 December 1935 - 25 November 2024. Lord Mayor 1991-92, Sheriff 1987-88, Master Chartered Accountant, Information Technologist and Merchant Taylor. RIP
So, farewell then James Hart, b. 10 Sept 1947, d. 31 Oct 2024, aged 77. Commissioner City of London Police 2002-2006. RIP. His obituary appears in today's Times.
So, farewell then Derek Edwards, b. 22 Nov 1934, d. 25 Sept 2024 aged 89. Sheriff of London 1989-1990. A liveryman of the Loriners' Company, and sometime Common Councilman in the ward of Bassishaw. RIP
So, farewell then Colonel Mark Carnegie-Brown, late Scots Guards, died 1 August 2024 aged 87. City Marshal at Mansion House 1991-96, Swordbearer 1997-2001.
So, farewell then Brigadier Alan Eastburn, died 25 July 2024. Clerk of the Barbers' Company 1995-2003, and the first Royal Signals officer to be a livery company clerk. Others followed: Lionel French (Fruiterers), this writer (World Traders), and Georgina Brown (Wax Chandlers).
So, farewell then The Very Rev Dr John Moses KCVO, Dean Emeritus of St Paul’s Cathedral, 12 January 1938 - 14 July 2024. Dean of St Paul's 1996-2006. A good friend to the livery (a Plaisterer) and excellent example of nominative determinism.
