prior to vatican 2/nostra aetate (1965) it was socially acceptable for catholics (clergy and laity) to be antisemitic. in fact, the prayer of good friday referred to jews as "perfidious" (Perfidious means deliberately faithless, treacherous, or deceitful—especially in a way that betrays trust, loyalty, or a promise).
after vatican 2/nostra aetate it was unacceptable to be catholic and to be antisemitic and jews were referred to as "elder brothers" who definitely did not kill Christ.
where did nostra aetate come from? promoted to pope john xxIII by jew jules isaac and authored by two jews: john oesterrieicher and gregory baum.
1965 was a good year for jews
There are five groups of Muslims:
1. Scholars, imams, and sheikhs. They rarely question Islam because they do not want to lose power, money, or respect in the Muslim community.
2. Muslims who live in denial.
3. Muslims who are afraid to study Islam because they do not want to see its flaws.
4. Sincere but uneducated Muslims who believe in Islam completely.
5. People who do not care much about religion. For them, Islam is mainly a culture.
Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, is the holiest day of the Jewish year, observed with fasting, prayer, and repentance, and with the work of reconciliation with God and with one another. Most Rev. Joseph C. Bambera (@BishopBambera), Bishop of @DioceseOfScr and chairman of the USCCB Committee on Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs, extends greetings to the Jewish community.
Since the promulgation of Nostra Aetate in 1965, Catholics and Jews in the United States have built decades of dialogue and friendship rooted in a shared scriptural heritage. That relationship carries a responsibility: to reject antisemitism in all its forms, to deepen our understanding of Judaism and the Jewish people, and to work so that Jewish communities can live and worship free from hatred and fear.
@25YearsAgoLive He must have racially abused them otherwise we are peaceful and respectful.
Don't insult our culture otherwise you pay hefty price for it
@ProphetBartEhr That's the problem, that's the claim but it didn't work out like that.
If no new doctrine was formed then it's ok to be pre Vatican 2 catholic bi problem
But its not so there's friction there.
They're mutually exclusive
James 2, lol
Sorry your religion is false
Catholics however flawed and disprovable they are, are INFINITELY more Christian than any protestant in this world
According to the bible and early church, every single protestant (unless through extraordinary exception) goes to hell
This is where Roman Catholicism leads.
I can't tell you how many Catholics I've spoken with over the years, who boast about their good works and what they do for the Lord. Not only that, the majority of them proclaim their own goodness. These were TRUE practicing Catholics.
The humble ones, were the ones who actually were considered "nominal Catholics". They were much more honest about their condition before the Lord and acknowledged they did more bad than good before the Lord. They were much more open to hearing and receiving the gospel vs. true practicing Catholics.
Catholicism = Phariseeism
@ProphetBartEhr The problem with taking Fatima as absolution over doctrine is that God can act outside the visible boundaries of the Church for His own purposes and the miracle doesnt transfer doctrinal authority.
When I finish my nap I'll explain more but I'm fkn tried so I'm gonna nap
